Join us at Tranquilles for a celebration of spring, colour, and creativity. Local artist Phil Thomsen unveils his latest works in a vibrant gallery showcase, capturing the essence of the season.

Photography is more than a hobby or a job—it’s my passion, my escape, and the lens through which I see the world differently. From chasing sunrises and auroras to capturing fleeting moments of joy, emotion, and wonder, photography allows me to preserve memories and share the beauty I’ve been privileged to witness.

Much of my inspiration comes from God’s ever-changing canvas—His creation never ceases to amaze me. No two days, no two photos are ever the same. Even familiar places reveal new moods through shifting light, weather, and season.

My love affair with Tasmania began in the 1980s through school photography work, and deepened over the years with family holidays, motel life on the Ocean Road, and countless return visits. Since 2016, I’ve crossed the Strait thirteen times, exploring hidden gems and falling in love with the West Coast’s rugged charm.

Through my images, I hope you’ll glimpse the awe I feel and perhaps see the world a little differently too. Thank you for taking the time to view my work.
