Exhibition of photographic works by Andew Butwell
"Into the Light" a celebration of abstract images from nature - An exhibition of photographic works by Andrew Butwell
Andrew is an Ulverstone resident with no formal arts background who has only recently begun to discover and develop his extraordinary skill in capturing the exquisite patterns and nuances of nature in Tasmania's north-west.
Andrew's entry into the fields of photography and artistic representation is very recent. In moving into this challenging area relatively later in his life, he has consciously attempted to avoid any stylistic influences during his development, instead letting the natural world reveal itself through his camera lens and lead him where it will.
Andrew sees his exciting works as a celebration of that extraordinary phenomenon, light, which is able to transform the most mundane and everyday objects and processes into fascinatingly beautiful treasures.
He hopes that the offerings in this his first exhibition will stimulate the viewer to take a fresh look at, and gain a new appreciation for, the detail in the wonderful creation we inhabit - to stop and reflect upon the many faces of our world.
Each framed image in Andrew's exhibition is an original once-only print. Each work comes with the destroyed negative, to ensure that further copies will not be made. The image is as captured by the camera, without filters, and with no post-capture image manipulation. All of the framed works on display are for sale.
The exhibition will run until 28th May 2005.
